Got a little crazy with the details

I spent a little too much time on this one. Thought I'd share it with you all.

Thumbnails

Here's a picture of some thumbnails I was working on. I'm trying to keep the overall character shape simple and then add detailed texture in Zbrush.

homework

aright, so for this week. 4 head busts. i would recommend basing them off of some sort of reference. a game character you enjoy, an alien from a movie, someone's sculpture. just remember you have to use the base mesh that i provided.

second, flip through the folder i gave you and look at the different models people have done, look around online if you want. bring back a couple images that resemble what you want to achieve in your final this semester and i will help you hit that goal.

last, starting next week, everyone has to post on the blog once a week, AND comment on someone else's post. this will get you used to being critiqued and critiquing others. i don't want to see any "good job, keep it up" type of posts. we are here to learn. don't be mean, and don't be vague, give solid critiques that will help the person.

thanks guys. i was sick this week so next week should be a bit more action packed

alrighty kids, welcome to the zbrush spring class. i would like to take this time to go over what this class will be all about since we didnt have class the first week. the whole class will be based around one project from start to finish. there will be 2 characters on a stand by the end of the semester. the first bit of the class will be based around the stand, doing some simple enviroment modeling and baking repetition to get you comfortable. then, we will hop into creatures and characters.

unlike last semester this semester has a theme, alien gladiators. i want very little armor or clothes. i want very little extruding from the silhouette. this shouldnt be an extremely complicated character. the creature will be simple as well, just a quadriped that looks wierd.

PLEASE START CONCEPTING NOW

i will be including all of my contact info in one of the next posts but i just wanted to introduce the class for now.
